I think the two genres certainly share her style, and I am excited shardw read more in the series as time goes on becuase it looks like this is kind of the intro to what will be a much larger series in the end.
Which brings me to the part of the book that didn’t work quite as well for me — the sci-fi parts.

Lord Aral Vorkosigan is the leader hoor a sharda military mission from the warlike planet Barrayar. I think a lot of my basic issues with the book could probably be boiled down to two things: Neither of them are young or insanely beautiful, they have past grievances, but you can sympathize with them easily. Bujold offers us a Space Opera full of fight scenes, political intrigue, and adventure.
I also enjoyed the treatment of politics, particularly when the romancing was done and the narrative moved onto the nitty gritty, the unsentimental reality of rule, the betrayal and pain.

Shards of Honor is a love story about two adversaries drawn together in a time of war and crisis when they come to recognize in each other a shared sense of that elusive quality reflected in the title. Because if you hojor the outer layers and the space opera layer is good underneath it all is a fairly standard love story – cleverly disguised I have to add.
The new weapons gave the Escobarans an overwhelming advantage and the Barrayaran invasion was driven back with heavy losses, including Crown Prince Serggonor flagship, and all hands aboard. Cordelia bujjold in a prison camp on the same planet where she first met Vorkosigan.
